Title: African Moo-nlight (CPESA 2020)
Location: South African Breweries, Sandton
Artist: Kirsten Miller
Sponsor: Cell C

Kirsten’s design was inspired by the rolling hills of rural Kwa-Zulu Natal under the light of the full moon - one of her favourite places on earth. As an artist she has a passion for fabric and currently finds herself working primarily in this medium; the potential of fabric for creating art being both exciting and limitless as well as loving the watercolour effect achieved, using small squares of coloured fabric. She is particularly inspired by local fabrics and fabric from other African countries. The Indian communities of Durban where she lives have influenced her love of using material from sari’s, and the strong tradition of beadwork in KZN in the Indian and Zulu cultures has influenced the embellishment of her designs through the use of beads.

This cow was sold by Stephan Welz in association with Sotheby's auction on Wednesday 29 June 2005 at the Nedbank Head Office, 135 Rivonia Road, Sandton. Proceeds have gone to CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation to aid their plight in "Keeping more than Hope Alive". Please read the Auction press release should you want more information about the auction.
