- Gcina Sam Maduna
Gcina Sam Maduna lives and works in his studio in Soweto. He uses the same facilities to teach potential artists from the township. As an artist, Sam is largely self-taught and he believes was born to paint and art is a spiritual calling. He uses acrylics, pastels and mixed media to portray his subject in a figurative manner. In 1989-1999 he worked for various printing companies as a commercial artist. Sam had his first solo exhibition (Finding Positive in the Negative) in 2003 at the Manor Gallery.
